Deluxe reissue of Ryan Adams' debut album! Adams went into the studio on the heels of the dissolution of his alt-country band, Whiskeytown and recorded Heartbreaker over the course of about two weeks. The young singer songwriter melded low key folk rock with a rootsy, bluegrass-accented undertow. The album's production was sparse but highly effective, the right elements placed at the right time for subtle emotional impact. Adams moved on from the teen angst of Whiskeytown and turned his attention towards he ups and downs of romance. His duet with Emmylou Harris, "Oh My Sweet Carolina," was one of his finest moments to date. With Heartbreaker Adams showed that he had gained some maturity and his music was that much better for it.
